Watch Me Add a Cool Opt-In Bar on “Fitness Black Book”

Like I mentioned in the last post, I’m going to try and do more screen capture videos of what I do day-to-day in my business. Today I installed a really sweet list building plugin on “Fitness Black Book”. I’m also using this same plugin to do exit popups on my satellite sites to build my list. Watch the video to see how it’s done :)

  • Gosh. Feature heavy or what. Enough to even turn a Fitbugger crazy. xD

    EXACTLY what I need.

I’m getting 1k-1.3k visitors daily to my health blog right now and only converting a small percentage of these visitors to subscribers.

I’ve always been wary of using pop-overs because I worry what Google would think, but these look beautiful and the “Slide In Left/Right” forms do not take away from the user experience, but I’m sure will convert visitors to subscribers.

    Going to buy this now!

    Thanks.

  • That is one amazing little plugin.

Hey Rusty what a great plugin, thanks for the vid.

You mention that your blog network does not make you a whole lot of money but on your visual impact muscle building affiliate page you say that if you have a web of sites they will collectively bring in a lot of money. Would you say that authority blogs convert better to sales?

    Cheers.

    Sam,

Authority blogs convert MUCH, MUCH better than satellite blogs. It isn’t even close. I’m convinced that more than ever, people like to buy from human beings that they trust. You build that trust with a picture of yourself, a good “About Me” page, etc.

I have fun setting up satellite sites and playing around with increasing traffic, etc…but when I want to make sales, it happens over on Fitness Black Book or from adding value to my list.

Satellite blogs can make a few sales per month, while getting more people to move into my funnel (joining my list). Even then…1-2 opt-ins per day per autoblog is actually doing good. You can’t really expect much more than that on a satellite site.

My hope is that the “Exit pop” will double the number of sales and opt-in per autoblog. It certainly can’t hurt!

@JamesPenn – James, you’ll probably get a huge bump in conversions if you test the slider. You might try putting an optin on your highest traffic pages, too, or put a link to a landing page that sells your optin. I have noticed a huge difference between in content optins vs. just having a optin box in the side bar. This is also true of promoting products. A text link in an article out performs a banner ad in the side bar by a wide margin.

I bought the plugin that Rusty shows because you can do all sorts of optin testing. I love the fact that different articles can optin to a whole different newsletter or autoresponder series. I am planning to have one for people who want exercise info and another for a diet related series to see if that improves conversions.

Cool stuff Rusty. Thanks for sharing.

Okay thanks for the feedback, going to try that video tactic on your most recent vid when you tell us how to do it!

  • Good stuff, Rusty! We got the plugin…it’s functionality is amazing! Just out of curiosity, how come you removed the Wibya bar and went with the Get Social Plug in?

    Hey Rusty,

I picked up the plugin because I really like the concept of having a pop up window after a few seconds to have the person opt in through their Facebook account.

My question is with having a pop as a Facebook opt in would I get into trouble with Google Adsense?

  • @ Rusty… you mentioned on the video using this on 1 way links. Are you inserting the opt in form on the auto blog you set up for 1 way links?

Anyone notice their google rank dropping after installing this plugin? It could be something else I did but all of my terms dropped not long after this. I also installed a couple of widgetbox plugins that are javascript so it could be those. Sooo frustrating!
