Starting 2012 Off With the Right Mindset
Hey guys…I will make this short. I found a free ebook that is a must-read. Honestly, this is perfect timing for the new year. It is an ebook called The Flinch. It was written by NYT best selling author Julien Smith…in partnership with Seth Godin.

[It is a free ebook for the Amazon Kindle. I just got a Kindle Fire this holiday season and HIGHLY recommend one if you can afford it. I'm already addicted.]
What if You Don’t Have a Kindle or iPad?
Kindle for PC
Kindle for Mac
Kindle for Android
Kindle for iPhone
Note: At least read the first chapter. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time on the subject of performance and reaching your potential.
Also…I will get to questions on that last post tomorrow. I’m taking the rest of the day off today

Rusty, thanks for the link! Looks like a great read.
I’m looking forward to 2012. I feel like it’s going to be a big year!
P.S. Happy new year!
Thanks Rusty. I want to generate a full time income this year and one way I intend to do so is through reading. I have a book list and will get it kicked of today with your recommendation.
Thanks for all your help, and everyone els who has made suggestions and comments over the past year.
Hey Rusty,
Thanks for all you did for us in 2011…just an incredible year. I know 2012 is going to be even better!
Wishing you the best,
Pete
Thanks for all your knowledge and help Rusty, Happy New Year! Same to everyone else!
Awesome book so far, can’t wait to have a free second to finish it.
As has been said, thanks for all the help and encouragement Rusty … and everybody else.
It SUCKS when Google kills an entire year’s work with one algo update but I’m thinking it’s time to ignore the “natural” flinch reflex to give up and push even harder in 2012. I’ve gotten a taste at what’s possible … now it’s time to make it happen.
Guys
My site was ranked on the first page of google for some really highly searched keywords. It was awesome to see, but I didn’t get the traffic I was expecting. Then a month later, my site dropped out of google. This time for a month. Then it came back up for a few weeks. Then it dropped again… only this time it was for over 2 months!
I thought of scrapping the site completely, taking all my posts and moving them to a new domain, doing a 301 redirect of my incoming links, “no indexing” the old site from the search engines, and just starting fresh. I created a few smaller keyword focused blogs in the meantime and started building links to them. I even researched a bunch of non-google ways of getting traffic:
-list swaps i.e. promoting my posts on other peoples lists
-finding ezines with lots of readers to write for
-buying banner ads
-running contests and giveaways that people would promote virally on social media
-”seoing” youtube videos
-networking with big bloggers to promote my stuff
-participating in forums
For more ideas check out this article on getting 1000 visitors per day without Google: http://www.buzzblogger.com/21-steps-to-1000-visitors-per-day/
After all of that, my rankings finally reappeared and now I’m getting 200-300 daily visitors. It took two months, but I’m making a plan to be less reliant on google.

Thanks for sharing Rusty, that was pretty good book, considering that it was free.
@Raza,
Very cool link! This year is going to be all about “getting traffic outside of Google”. I can teach SEO…I know practical SEO as well as anyone online, but Google is getting unpredictable.
We will talk much more about Facebook funnels, viral traffic, Twitter, Amazon Kindle marketplace, etc.

Hey Rusty,
it would be awesome if you could cover email marketing at some point, especially list monetization. I know me and other members already got decent sized lists.
Personally I’ve just been broadcasting links to new articles about twice a month, I have tried to promote affiliate offers but never made a sale.
@Kris,
Will do some email marketing stuff for sure (now that enough of you guys have decent sized lists).
This is so fun to see you guys progress from just a few visitors per day to having funnels in place, partnering with each other, writing reports, etc.
Love it!

Hey Rusty, unrelated question, but I want to build one of those pages like you have for body weight training on fitness black book. Could you please give me a simple explanation on how to do this please, I remember you mentioning you have to log into your hosting account, but I have no idea what to do from there, thanks in advance, hope you had a great New Years and thanks for all the training thus far, it is definitely working

@mikemc007,
I will get to that in the Spring. My guess is that there are MUCH easier ways to do it with WP now. Jason has a couple of good suggestions.
