How to Find Amazing Photos for Your Blog Posts

One of the comments I get on a regular basis is how I find cool posts for Fitness Black Book. I take pride on having pretty sharp photos for my blog, ebooks, and banners. I will give you a BIG tip that will save you time when searching for stock photos…search for photographers first NOT for specific photos. I will explain exactly how to do this in the video.

    Great advice. You always have great pictures on your blogs. I’ve noticed that you occasionally share a photo that has nothing to do with your post but you just like the cool picture. Your pics are always attention grabbing and very entertaining.

  • Awesome banners Rusty, just added them to my site. Are you planning to do some new ones for your men’s product as well?

  • mikemc007:

    have to say you do have an eye for the pictures, you should take your efforts into photography yourself maybe, check out my site guys, need some much needed traffic and do leave comments please http://www.somebodylied.com

  • Matteo:

    Hey Rusty, this is great, thank you. It’s funny, I’ve been following and admiring your stuff over at fitnessblackbook for a long time now and one question I always found myself asking was ‘wow how the heck does he find such kick ass images?’…so I feel that I’ve been waiting to read this post since about 2009!

    Also I’m about halfway through your archives here and would like you to know that the information you are providing for free blows pretty much every other IM/affiliate/blogging course I have ever seen out of the water – including the top dollar guru stuff, of which I have seen plenty. Amazing.

    Thanks

    Matt

  • Thanks. I spend way too long getting lame pictures. This makes life much easier and I hope more profitable.

    Like the new banners too.

  • admin:

    @Keith,

    I will have some new Men’s banners made. Not sure exactly when…still deciding on what I want them to say.

    @Matteo,

    Thanks for the nice feedback. One of the problems with the Warrior Forum and some IM gurus are that many of those people “make money by selling tools to the make money niche”. There aren’t a ton of people outside of the Internet Marketing niche who are sharing their methods.

    Some guys who teach IM & make money in niche markets?

    Andre Chaperon
    Peter Spaepen
    Matt Trainer
    Mark Ling
    Chris Rempel

    These are probably the main guys I follow. They are 7-8 figure per year niche marketers…and all make the bulk of their money outside of the IM niche. This is why you will only hear from some of these guys 1-2 times per year.

    My advice on the Warrior Forum is to find tools that make building your business easier…but take your business advice from people who are making a lucrative income in niche marketing.

    -Rusty

  • Your ads always look killer, Rusty. I’ve tried to create my own, but sometimes you just can’t beat the professionals!

  • Those are some great banners. Luckily for me, my sister is a photographer and my best friend is a graphic designer! Problem is the friends and family deal is definitely at their pace, not mine. But, then again, free is free.

  • phoenix:

    Your pics are definitely cool. This will save me a load of time, cheers.

    Off topic question if I may; in the google adwords tool I have keywords ranking at no.1 and 2, yet in the organic search they are nowhere! (The nowhere thing is a recent phenomenon, looks as though I’ve been “dropped” maybe)

    Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any advice (besides panic!!)

    Michael

  • chrishlphoto:

    Rusty,

    I always love your photos as well. I definitely agree that finding the photographer that does what you like first is most important. They will have a style and you can count on things being as good and similar.

    Another guy who makes his money in niches and teaches about how to do it for free is Glen at Viperchill. He gives away amazing information and most of the time doesn’t even include affiliate links!

    Anyway, thanks for connecting me to Andre, I am currently going through his ARM and on his insiders email. I really enjoy his stuff, almost as much as yours!

    Chris

  • Matteo:

    @Rusty

    Yep, I couldn’t agree more. Though it took me far too long to arrive at that way of thinking!

    Thanks again

    Matt

  • These photos are really really nice. The graphic designer is not only fast but also very talented.

    This reminds me I’m guilty of not providing enough fitness tips for women. I should really add more articles helping girls get in great shape.

  • optimumex:

    Rusty, this turned out to be a really great time saving tip. Thanks for that and pointing us in Nauman’s direction. Like “Toxic Beauty”, the results of doing banners myself are let’s say less than spectacular.

    I’ve noticed that pattern too. You barely here from them and even when you do they give you some great no-nonsense info. These are people whose emails I look forward to opening and hearing what they have to say.

    You’re on that short list too, Rusty.

    Oh and don’t forget the ladies, like…

    Lisa Parmley (love her) and Alexis Dawes. They deserve their props.

  • optimumex:

    Rusty, I forgot to ask… with Nauman, do you specify what background and text colors to use? Or does he come up with that on his own?

  • admin:

    @Michael,

    Most likely just the “Google Dance”. Sometimes a site will drop off the face of the earth for a couple of weeks and then come back in a higher position. I know it is stressful.

    @Yavor,

    Women are a vastly under-served market. You really should try and help them out by doing more specific posts for women.

    @optimumex,

    These graphic designers are typically really talented with color. I like to chose the photo’s….because that is my strength…but they are better at tying it together with proper colors for the text, etc. Nauman is great at this.

  • mikemc007:

    Hey guys, was wondering how do you do a disclaimer page, anti spam policy, privacy policy etc at the bottom of your websites, i have searched on google but have no idea on how to do it, thanks in advance

  • mikemc007:

    Hey whats up guys, just got a comment today, my first piece of hate mail lets say, here it is “I’ve been training in the field of personal training for the past 5 years. Everything that you are saying is completely wrong, I discredit the majority of the advice that you are giving, and anyone that is looking to pursuing this seriouly should not be influenced a young naive boy!!!!!!

    Go do your research and continue what you actually know!!!

    Words of wisdom,

    Tony”

    Was just wondering how often you guys get this sort of stuff and do you put the comment up as i have or do you just read it and delete it? Also no one replied about the disclaimer, privacy policy pages, any help on that would be sweet, muchos gracias

  • mikemc007:

    and oh yer this was my reply “I expect that some people will be influenced by the mass media, especially a personal trainer who is being taught by essentially the mass media, and not actively pursuing knowledge, just having it spoon fed to him like a baby. Go around and look at all the other little niche sites like mine, and then look at the physiques of us. You probably help people lose weight but don’t allow them to keep it off. Have a good day mate.”

  • Mike, you need to edit the footer.php of your site to add links to pages for disclaimer etc.

    Create those pages and save them as PAGES.

    For the content – check out what other people have on disclaimer pages and PARAPHRASE it. In other words don’t steal the content but tell the same thing in your own words.

    For the hatemail – obviously you struck a chord. Either your msg or the way you present yourself is not to their liking. Don’t feel obliged to keep hate on your site. I’d say toss it BUT consider what might have caused them to say it and consider revising something that may actually be wrong..

    I don’t think I know everything about fitness AND neither should you.

    The more experienced we get, the more we realize that everything might be wrong (or right!) to a certain degree. So although 10 yrs ago I might have been very aggressive in might stance, I later realize that different advice is applicable to different situations (or stages of training maturity).

  • mikemc007:

    thanks for the advice Yavor,i figured it would be about creating pages, if you look at my site though you can see at the bottom there is link1, link2, link3 , i am just wondering how do i make them clickable so they go the pages i create instead of just going to my home page, i know how to change the name of them but just dont know how to add the page to the links, thanks in advance, just checked out your site and it looks great. I noticed on this site your one of the leaders in terms of traffic generation and I aspire to get to these levels also.

  • Mike, just insert the URL of the page in place of the # sign between the quotes. (y0u want to view the footer in html view.

    So it is a href=”URL”

  • admin:

    @Mikemc007,

    I’m guessing that about 5% of the comments on my blog are negative. Towards the beginning it was much more than that. I pissed off the guys in the Bodybuilding.com forum. On a day back in September of 2007, I received over 300 bashing comments by 10AM.

    At the time, I let all comments go through unapproved. So I had to scramble and make sure all comments going forward had to be approved. I also deleted 90% of the comments…it took me 3 hours because as I was deleting, more were coming in at a fast rate I needed to moderate.

    The weeks after that I was getting on average 100 negative comments per day. People were posting my profile picture in bodybuilding forums.

    I had also had a Myspace page at the time, that I forgot about. Somebody got into my Myspace page and grabbed a hold of pictures of not only me, but my friends and family.

    It got ugly…I had people making obscene comments about people I cared about…as well as attacking me to no end. This was when I was making just a few hundred dollars per month from my site, and working 50+ hours per week at my full-time job.

    I was REALLY close to quitting…but decided to push forward. I have had every negative or challenging comment thrown at me that you cam imagine. If anyone ever gets flustered…let me know. I’ll give you some words of encouragement :)

    In fact…watch Tina Fey’s acceptance speech…fast forward to the 1:00 minute mark.

  • mikemc007:

    Thanks for the words of wisdom Rusty, I will admit you are a big role model for me, and I followed your site religiously over the summer to really take my body to a whole different level athletically and look wise. Don’t know if you remember i contacted you on facebook on how to get a website up and running. I like people who stand up for what they believe in and you do this admirably. That thing about your myspace is well out of line but thanks for sticking to your guns because I have really learnt alot from you and probably would be brainwashed by bodybuilding principles still. I also like to stand up for what I believe in and alot of people label me stupid when I can clearly present results in their face. Have to say your blog training is top notch aswell, I have looked at other ones like Craig Ballantyne’s and it doesn’t offer nowhere near as much value as yours. I have learnt so much and you keep up to date with the game and inform us, I really have honed in on some keywords and got alot of articles in the pipeline ready to be released, also started using the best spinner and 1 way links. You will be missed in 2012 when you hang up your boots, but you have earnt your break and I hope to be an expert in the field by that time and pick up the baton you leave behind. I don’t offer praise much, but you do deserve it.
    Michael

  • Rusty, I knew about this occurrence, but didn’t know the magnitude. Glad you kept on, because I discovered FBB in late 2007 which must have been right after this event.

    Mike, your transformation is outstanding. Keep pushing.

    As for me, I’ve received hateful messages on some of my youtube vids. It’s a bummer but what can you do.

    One of the first ones I received were from a Bulgarian guy, making fun of my outfit in the gym. Classic case of the crabs in the bucket syndrome.

    Another one I received was on one of my video tutorials. I think it was the muscle up tutorial. A bunched of people commented that the tutorial helped them do their first muscle up, so I am happy with it.

    I am not the strongest guy in the world but I provide tips for guys with even average genetics like me to get fit and stronger.

    In the end, I believe in what we put out helps people.

  • Hey guys,
    I recently used Nauman’s services in creating a header and he really delivered! The header just went up today. He really helped me out and created a couple of options to choose from and the results were excellent! Plus I had trouble placing the header on my page (Thematic Theme makes it hard) and he helped me with that as well.

    Rusty, thanks again for pointing us in the right direction.

    -Sam

    P.S. You can check the header as of today…

    Wow, thank you Rusty. Great post and very useful. Love your banners. I can see the difference between Fiverr banners

NEW Affiliate Banners!
I hired out a couple different graphic designers to create a bunch of new affiliate banners.

Here is a preview of one I just had designed. I had this made in a bunch of different sizes...

I'm buying high-end stock images with really attractive men and women. They will all be stylish.

And Yavor of "Relative Strength Advantage" created a new men's banner that looks cool and has the same feel as the woman's banner above. Here it is.
