Fitness Blogging In the Cloud
I apologize for the lack of training posts the past few weeks. Doing my best to create a really special product that will make a serious impact in the lives of many people looking to get lean. Watch this video to see how I am now “blogging in the cloud”. Mario has been doing it since ’87…time we catch up!
This is protected content.

Great tool. With this method there isn’t a reason why everyone us couldn’t put together a free report or a bonus for affiliate products.
Great Post!
I am excited for your Visual Impact Cardio Course. Any idea when it will be out?
@Greg,
I was hoping for Feb, but it may take until mid-March. I want to make this one a game-changer for people who get it. I know I could go the quick route and make a decent extension of
“Treadmill Ninja”…but decided to really give it my all.
It will be super easy to sell as well. I have a REALLY compelling USP, that will give you guys tons of angles to sell this with. Secret for now
So a win-win for both the customers as well as affiliates.

Hi Rusty,
This is something I really needed!
Maybe slightly off topic:
I am not sure anymore how I found your blog but I am glad I did
. I have a small site and just as most newbies didn’t have any idea how to increase traffic. And to be honest, it was really hard to believe I could reach even 100 visitors per day not to mention 1000 or so. (considering that I was getting somewhere between 15-30 visitors/day
.
However, on January 3rd 2012 I started to work on getting some traffic and something amazing happened:
January 3rd: 18 visitors
January 4th: 27 visitors
January 5th: 50 visitors
January 6th: 48 visitors
January 7th: 81 visitors
January 8th: 118 visitors !!
Now, a lot of this traffic comes from social sites (stumble upon, digg etc) and isn’t high-quality traffic but I also noticed that my ranking improved and I outranked some big players in the field.
The challenge I am having is to keep syndicating content daily (today I failed to do so and traffic dropped to 45).
Now I see if I could stick to simple plan: posting daily and syndicating content for a few month could lead to high ranking for enough keywords to get decent amount of traffic
Considering that I haven’t implemented most of your recommendations (blog commenting, e-mail etc) I see that getting 100 visitors a day isn’t that hard.
So, Thank You for providing such great tutorials!
Resko
Rusty,
This is a great tool to capture as much info for future blog posts. I know I sometimes look around looking for new topics to write about and it can be somewhat time consuming but this just slices off so much time. One of my resources has been stuff like Google Alerts and Google Trends but what you are talking about makes it easier.
Btw, I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my articles pop up in the video. Let’s just say I was blushing just a bit.
-Sam
Sounds like VI cardio will be amazing. Are you going to update your other VI courses to make them as cutting edge as this?
Thanks for answering most of my questions on the facebook notes part 3 article btw.
Rusty, this is awesome!
I’ve never really gotten used to Evernote, but seeing the way you use it makes a lot of sense. I’ve had it installed for a while but never used it, will be using it for my research now.
Didn’t know about Feedly, but going to install it now. This is perfect for me as I’m going through a massive writer’s block.
Looking forward to blast my (now) fast expanding list with your cardio course this year.
Rusty, this may be a dumb question, but please help.
What is visimpact: 1 and what is visimpact: 2? I think 2 would be the women’s product?
I promote both your books on my blog, wasn’t really sure how they’d convert, but they both convert well but visimpact 2 rates are ridiculous! I’m planning to isolate the product and hit it hard – so wanted to know first which one it is.
@Resko,
Right on! Also…there is nothing wrong with posting once per day. Just make them short posts, where you add comments to a study or news story in the Fitness Niche. Chris over at Conditioning Research has done this for years and he gets incredible traffic.
@Sam,
THe key is building a huge collection of good RSS feeds. Keep capturing great RSS feeds in your Google Reader and in 3-4 months, you will have a never ending stream of ideas for posts.
@David,
Yep…I’m thinking that I may just stick to these 3 products for 2 years and really fine tune them into the best products I possibly can. Both the men’s and women’s products will eventually get updated…I’ll make many more free “Special Reports” for current and future customers, etc. My goal is to double the value of all my products over time, without increasing the price.
@Kris,
You will be hooked. I even put my grocery list on there from my desktop and pull it up with my Android phone.
@Tash,
Not a dumb question at all. Item 1 in your Clickbank back office is Visual Impact Muscle Building, item 2 is Visual Impact for Women…item 3 will be Visual Impact Cardio.
In some ways I think VI Cardio could eventually become the biggest seller….mainly because I am suggesting it as a way to fill in the “Fat burning gaps” that other programs are missing. So it doesn’t necessarily replace programs that people like to do…but amplify their fat loss results.
-Rusty
Thanks for the quick reply Rusty – it makes sense to me that I’m doing better with the women’s product since I’m a gal and you don’t seem to have too many of us as affiliates (maybe)
Anyway, it’s got crazy good conversion rates for me – could be too small a sample size to say accurately but even if I get half these rates going forward it’s awesome.
Hey Rusty,
Have any advice for getting your rankings back? My rankings have been down ever since that October Panda update.
I stopped using 1WL for a while just to see if that would help but nothing seems to be working. Right now, I’m just writing unique content and doing a little social bookmarking.
Thanks
Hey Rusty,
I’m looking forward to your new product!
Recently, I’ve been getting around 8000 visitors per day, not sure if this boost is because of the holidays. Can’t wait to make even more progress.
Keith,
I noticed that a lot of my backlinks were de-indexed after the panda update and they no longer counted. All I did was build new ones and my rankings came back stronger than before.
For example, I had 300 indexed backlinks for one article. After the panda update, only 50 remained indexed and my rankings dropped like a rock. Just build more links and you’ll see the recovery. I prefer to focus my resources on ranking 1-2 articles at a time.
The new algorithm updates extremely quickly, most of the times you can see if things are working within a few days.
1WL still works great for low competition keywords. Kris covered some great points about it in his guest post. I do things slightly different regarding 1WL, but you can’t go wrong if you follow his method closely.
Hey Jeff,
How did you check your backlinks for specific articles?
Thanks
I used to use Yahoo Site Explorer, unfortunately they shut down recently.
Now I just focus on building backlinks. If it’s working, I’ll see my rankings move in a few days/week.
@ Jeff
Kris did do a good job with his post and I think it worked well at the time. Google is ganging all the time, just the other day I noticed they introduced some kind of personal search. With all the changes as of late do you still think 1waylinks does anything?
@Jason
As I said before, it still works great for low competition keywords. However, I believe that most people are doing it wrong. In the end, they don’t get any results.
It should do well on a term like ‘how to get bigger arms’. Yahoo answers seems to rank #2, always a easy spot to take.
But it has little impact on a medium competition keyword like ‘high intensity interval training’ and no impact on high competition keywords like ‘lose weight’…which requires something a lot more heavy duty.
Here are some guidelines I personally follow using 1WL:
1) High quality spins, every variation needs to have high readability. Articles that read well have a higher chance of getting indexed and stay indexed longer.
I have tried low quality spins and they perform very poorly in comparison.
2) 1 link per article. I tried it with more links and I found that 1 link per article produced the best results.
3) I don’t spin my original article. I always write another unique article to spin, at least 500 words.
4) Distribute each spun article up to 75 times, 1-3 a day.
5) At least 2-3 anchor variations for the first spin. Once it’s done distributing, I’ll write another unique article and spin it. I will only have the most important anchor text in this one.
After the first article is done distributing in 1WL, I’m usually on page 1 or 2. After the 2nd article is done, I’ll be in the top 5. After the 3rd article, I’m usually top 3. 200-300 links dedicated to 1 article. Sometimes it may take a bit more, other times it takes lot less.
@ Jeff
Would you mind giving an example of “something a lot more heavy duty” when it comes to building backlinks.
Best – Mike
HI Everyone!
I have been following Rusty’s training and things are on the up, Thanks Rusty!
I have hit a wall however, in posting to 1way links it only allows me one “helper blog” to in my account. I have several sites due to my fitness specialties I had to separate into their own blogs. This is causing an issue and I cannot move forward, 3 days now. 1waylinks i truly feel is what will help my traffic, but unless i have several IP address I cannot add blogs to the account. In one household I only have 1 IP address, and I need “C-Level hosting” in order to move forward. Has anyone heard of this? If so, what should I do? Ive already lost $ on trying to buy c-level hosting and am in need of Rusty’s Help.
I am super appreciative for any and all advise.
Thanks!
Jessica
@Mike
Links from other authority blogs would be an example. It could be from a guest post, blog roll or a regular post talking about your page. The better the link source, the more powerful the link is. But everything is relative to the top competitors for the term.
If they only have links from blog networks like 1WL, you can overtake them by getting more blog network links. This is usually the case for low competition keywords.
However, if the top competitor has a lot of links from other high authority sites…then the blog network links will have little impact. You would also need links from high authority sites to rank well.
@Jessica, you can get a hosting account with multiple unique Class C IPs at seohost.com.
@Jeff, awesome work on 8000 visitors per day. That’s outstanding, what were your traffic levels like before the holidays?
My traffic has also soared and is about 10-11K per day during the week, but I’m assuming it will go down a bit after January is over.
I’d be interested in taking a look at your site, could you email me at kristjan@kriskris.com if you’re unwilling to post it here?
@ Jeff
@ Kris
Thanks Jeff for the quick answer…..
Congratulations to both Jeff and Chris for getting so much traffic (8,000 to 11,000 hits a day).
I’ve been spending a great deal of time analyzing successful sites through the PR Analysts in Market Samurai…. It seems like most of the websites that have high ranking backlinks come from high-ranking link network type websites.
Do you think these backlinks are paid for? Are there any other linking networks besides 1-way links where you can get high page ranks such as 4, 5 or 6 backlinks?
I have a number of low competitive keywords ranking well for my site but I still haven’t been able to rank well for higher competitive keywords no matter what I’ve tried.
Whenever I find a keyword that gets a lot of traffic it seems unattainable from all their high-ranking back links.
Any advice guys?
Best–Mike
@Mike,
Another blog network that’s suppose to be good is Build My Rank. It’s $59 per month.
You don’t actually have to submit your blog to the network and a lot of the blogs are PR 3-7.
Also, you can’t put spun content on it, but this just helps with the overall quality of the network. I’ve tried their 10 links free trial and already saw some improvement in one of my keywords.
-Keith
@ Jeff
Thanks
@Mike
As I said before, link networks can only get you so far.
If you can pay for a membership, your competitors can do the same which leaves you with no competitive advantage in the link building plan.
Chances are that they are using multiple public link networks in combination along other strategies. I know that some sites build their own private network of high pr sites for backlinks, constantly buying new high pr sites and adding them to their network.
This is why I talked about getting links from other legitimate authority blogs for high competition keywords. They are the highest quality links and it’s significantly more difficult to get a lot of these. This becomes a competitive advantage for you if you can get it.
@ Jeff
Thanks for all the advice.
Best – Mike
