Facebook Notes SEO – Part 2
I was going to hold off and do this next week, since I usually put things off on Friday…but a lot of interest in this subject (35+ comments already on last post). I just setup a Facebook Note, posted it, submitted it to a free service that bookmarks it to 25 sites, linked to it from a special EDU site…and recorded it all on video. Enjoy
This is protected content.

Hi Rusty, was just wondering, what is the purpose for us using fb notes? in the first post, it was used by affiliates to sell something. For you, you have your own product on there, so its to get people to your facebook to buy. Are we meant to use it as a quality backlink to our main site like we are meant to in ezine articles?
Hi Rusty, brilliant content once again.
I have been working with fbook notes since your first post on this and want to say that it works and ranks well quickly. Today, I created a review note for Star Wars The Old Republic Leveling guide, totally unrelated to your niche hahaha… but back to my point. I created 35 social backlinks, 25 low PR sites like those found in Social Monkee and 10 high PR like stumbleupon, digg, delicions, etc.
I did these all manually and what I did was keep track of all the back links I just did and made an RSS feed and pinged the RSS feed with pingler. So I backlinked my backlinks so to say and my note ranked #2 withing 24 minutes. Bear in mind that competition is not that high but I outranked exact match domains for this keyword and 6 hours later I did get a sale from this note.
I will post back in a few days after I monitor how long it will rank high, but I think fbook notes can be quite useful for growing your fanpage following.
cheers and thanks for all the tips
Robby
Hey Rusty, I just discovered your EDU site yesterday after doing a bit of my own research. It seems like a great way to build not just a link to content, but also to put up some help posts as well. Thanks for the tips.
Robby, how do you make an RSS feed of your backlinks.
Awesome idea. Thank you Rusty
@atltrainer
I use html2rss.com for make a RSS feed of all my backlinks.
Rusty,
Great post man. I’m trying this out now also for a note and I’ll let you know. Would you recommend using social monkee to link back to an authority site? Thanks.
Josh
Hey Rusty, thanks for the links! Both these sites look pretty cool. Have you thought about upgrading to the premium version of Social Monkee? For a one-time fee (or finding 12 referrals) it would probably be worth it if the bookmarking sites are any good.
I also saw the guy behind the Monkee service runs backlinkskingdom.com which is basically the same set up, but for article submissions. I might give that a shot too, since it’s free.
I’ve submitted three FB notes into 1waylinks and socialmonkee (I have a premium account). They’re already ranking on page 2-3 for long-tail terms.
Then I’ve got 30+ well written articles over at ezinearticles that aren’t sending me any traffic at all. As soon as I see a FB note hitting the front page, I will start copy-pasting those articles from Ezine into FB, maybe rewriting the title and changing a few sentences.
I’m definitely going to buy the 5 Minute Fan Page 2.0 program when I can, I just watched the sales video and got super excited only to find out that they’re closed to new customers for now
But I did something pretty funny for my facebook page. I lost it a bit on fiverr a few months ago: http://www.facebook.com/krishealthblog?sk=app_128953167177144
One thing that concerns me when searching google is that they give you personalised search results by default. Up until recently you were able to turn this off, but having just checked, I can’t now see an option to do this.
Having personalised search running will ALWAYS falsely show up your stuff, I just typed in ‘diet plans’ a tag of mine came up on page 1! Just a tag, not a post, not anything I’ve linked to, just a tag. This is not quite balanced, SEO objective searching.
I’d love to know how others get around this?
George
@george superbootcamps, i think most people use market samurai which is a paid product, i personally use google chrome in incognito mode so it doesnt personalize my results. i also check on my iphone and a mates house
Thanks for that mike, I’ll check out incgonito mode….
Hi Rusty, http://www.socialadr.com is pretty similar to Social Monkee, you register with 20 – 30 social accounts, you share other peoples bookmarks and in return they share yours. Might be worth a look although I am new to this sort of thing so your opinion on it would be good too.
Hey Rusty,
Would you recommend using social monkee and edu links to build links back to our authority site in addition to 1WL?
Thanks
Thanks Rusty, just put this one into action and will look forward to checking the results. Thanks for sharing these ‘ninja’ strategies with us =)
@Mike – thanks for the incognito mode, being having a real pain in the rear trying to get ‘untainted’ google results.
Marcus
You guys,
Check out this ninja strategy using Google plus. Please don’t abuse it, but it’s amazing:

I submitted a facebook note to 1way link and it is one page one. I’ll look into adding some additional links.
Hi,
It seems there are two urls for each facebook note. For instance, your note, Rusty, is at http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=257917727602789
and at the URL with the keyword. It seems that the one above is what appears in Google. Which version of URL should I send links to?
Hey Rusty, do you mind taking a look at my funnel?
I’ve removed the adsense from the sidebar and replaced it with a banner for my free weight loss report. All third-party ads are now at least two clicks away from the front page, hoping this will help with trust/encourage linking, etc.
Then I also inserted a box under the author box below each post, and installed the “HelloBar” on top.
It all links to my facebook page, which has a “like gate” which reveals the opt-in form.
I’m using 5Minute Fan Page 2.0, but I’m going to request a refund if this thing won’t take off in January because the only reason I bought it was due to thinking I’d get my money back quickly in Likes and e-mails.
My goal was to copy what you did with your own facebook page, I did try putting up a promotional video but it didn’t work as well as yours, so I replaced it with simple image/text. I think the video was actually turning people away.
So far it’s not converting nearly as well as I hoped, about 9 new facebook likes in 2 days and only 2 opt-ins. Maybe it’s just the time of the year though.
My goal for 2012 is to make it to 10K per month (last 3 months in a row above 4K dollars – not December though), then get more followers and subscribers. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look at this for me.
Dang that’s awesome Kris, just signed up for your list. Are you still just 1WL to build your rankings?
Yebb, still using 1waylinks, recently started using senukex again and I think it’s working but not sure if it’s worth the insane price tag.
I’ve still got an insanely small amount of subscribers/followers compared to my daily traffic.
Trying to fix that in the next few months by upping the posting frequency, writing less for SEO and more for the readers, giving a free report and pimping up my facebook page.
@Kris,
Congrats on the success man. That is awesome. Can you tell me what sitemap plugin you use on your site? Thanks.
Josh
Hello Josh,
I’m using the Google XML Sitemaps plugin
WOW this is some great stuff Rusty. I’m going to give these two a try and see how it works.
