Big Case Study – 60 Unique Articles, 3 New Blogs, and One Linking Method.

I’m back for 10 days, before hitting the road again. This summer, I’ve been away more than I have been home. Anyway, I want to lay out a blueprint that I’m testing for the summer case study that I will show you guys. Like I mentioned before, I’m not going to show you the actual blogs, but I will show you the methods I’m using along with the results.

  • Rusty,

    This is a very cool idea, great idea on getting link power from other blogs.

    I am going to assume that you are using blog 1 as your authority site. Secondly, are blogs 2 and 3 in your 1 way Links net work, as 1 Way Links is posting posts to them on a daily basis?

  • Hi Rusty, not sure if you’ve answered this question before already but I’ll ask it anyway :) When you create new blogs, are they supposed to be hosted by two different web hosting accounts so they rank better or can I host all of them with the same hosting account?

    Thanks.

    Good idea Rusty, and I have same question as annard.
    THANKS

  • How do you keep track of all your linking systems…what posts get connected to other posts? Sometimes I get dizzy with just the simple web 2.0 link wheel.

    This new idea seems like an interesting way to build up your traffic, and with a service like seohosting this maybe a well crafted and practical system. I’d definitely seems like it get your inbound traffic skyrocketing. Thanks for sharing this idea.

    Hope it works.

    Hi Rusty,

    Love the case study!!!

    I’m wondering a few things with 1 way links.

    1. Are you planning on submitting all 20 spun articles to 1way links in one go? Or are you planning on submitting say 5 spun articles per week over 4 weeks??
    2. How many sites are you going to let each article post to, and how many per day?? eg. 50 in total, 2 per day.
    3. Are you using the standard 250 per month or have you added more blogs to the network to increase this.

    Thanks

  • Jimmy Smith:

    Hey Rusty
    Are blogs 2 and 3 on the same hosting account as blog 1 or are they blogger blogs?

  • admin:

    Answers to first set of questions:

    1. I’m testing on all the same hosting account this time around. If I get good results, I will do the same thing again, but all different hosting accounts, then compare. I understand the thinking behind putting each domain on its own Class C IP, but this complicates it a bit. I’m trying to keep it really simple this first time around.

    2. Blog 1 should be your authority blog. Blog 2 and 3 are your shameless affiliate blogs, to hopefully make this a self funding operation :)

    3. Linking between posts will be easy. I post on blog 1 first, then blog 2 (with anchor text to blog 1), then post on blog 3 (with anchor text to blog 2). This is done by hand, but won’t take long…because I’m only testing this with 20 articles per site.

    4. I’ll set 1WL to post 2 per day per article for a total of 50 posts per article. So it will take close to 2 months for all the linking to happen. Each article will begin getting posted to about 1 week after it has been submitted to the blog. I have added more blogs to 1WL to get more credits per day.

    5. Actually not the worst idea in the world to have one of them be a Blogger blog. Heck, I may test this whole system out on a few Blogger blogs at some point. The only downside is I won’t be able to use some of the Fancy Schmancy WP Plugins on Blogger…the upside is that Blogger ranks well early on.

  • I am going to put this in place myself and report back to you. As I have mentioned before my traffic has dried up. I only get google image search results now.

    One question. How do you spin so fast. IOt takes me at least an hour to do one 500 word article. If it wasn’t for the countless spins and 1way links format I would be be better off writing the article from scratch.

  • I like this idea of basically building your own small blog network. I use Unique Article Wizard so I can only have 2 links per article, but I could submit a second one to cover all three.

    I’ll excited to try this and see how it turns out.

  • You may want to try free traffic systems as well. If you are spinning with 1way links it is easy to add their format, and you get 2 free links. Not sure how well it does but it is on average 100 links per article, and for free.

  • Hi Rusty

    Great little strategy you have worked out here. Quick question. Once all the articles are on submitted to the blogs and 1waylinks do you intend to add more content and do further link building over time or just leave them as they are?

    Cheers

    Howard

  • grimace_86:

    Does ‘post 2a’ link to ‘post 1a’? and does post 3a link to post 2a etc…?

  • I read a book called Auto Blog System X over the weekend and that book could help with scaling this really high. The book tells you how you can set up a number (i think is was 32 on godaddy) of blogs in a wordpress network. With 32 different c class IP’s.

    If this test goes well that might be a great way to scale this up.

    Interesting plan Rusty, interested in the results. I might start with something similar but with blogger.

  • @ Rusty when you mention affiliate blogs are you talking about the ones you set up as satellite sites with products for sale? I don’t think the affiliate thing lightly and want to know if you were speaking in a literal or figurative sense.

  • Has anyone found another place to host Class C IPS? My girlfriend is using 1 way links for a blog and opened a hostgator account and then we found out I can’t use it due to needing another ip. Hostgator has another division but they are a bit step when it comes to this kind of hosting. Anyone using anything else they may want to recommend that may been a little lighter on the budget but good quality?

  • I am very interested to see how this plays out.

    How do you come up with this stuff Rusty??? It is incredible how your mind works!

    I am going to give this a try with some blogger blogs. If this study goes well for you then I will invest in some more domain names.

  • @deek67 – Have a look at SEOhosting.com, seohosting.co.uk, seohost.com for ideas on prices.

    IF you go the blogger route (like me) you could use auto blod samurai or scrapeboard to do the posting to the blogger accounts.

  • PODER501000:

    I did everything kris mentioned WP syndicator,1 waylinks and I think my site was banned by Google,,I was getting more traffic daily and all of the sudden GONE,,,I can’t find my blog anywhere.

  • Hey Rusty,

    Dumb question on rewrites but being a little slow…but are you talking about essentially writing 60 unique articles total? Or would spinning the 1st article be the same as the 1st rewrite, and spinning that spun article be the same as the 2nd rewrite, and of course, the 3rd spin would go to 1waylinks?

    BTW poder501000, a few weeks back, I woke up one morning to find one of sites missing. Keywords where I was 2nd or 3rd on 1st page – gone. Searching for my site – nada. I of course panicked thinking a year and half down the drain. But about a week later, it came back.

    A forum made mention that google recalibrates or reindexes or reboots or resomething once a month and some sites takes a while to reappear. So give it a week or so.

  • PODER501000:

    Thanks hyhyisso that makes me feel much better. If I type my site’s address I will come up but when I type the mayor keyword which I was ranking on the first page is gone.

    This is very scary as I’ve done so much work to it I would hate to see it banned or anything liked that.

  • Quick question… How many links should we have from post 1b to post 1a? And from 1c to 1b?

  • admin:

    @Jason,

    I use The Best Spinner’s “Easy Spin” function and I only replace phrases, not individual words. I should put up a video on that.

    @Howard,

    I will leave them as they are for a while, then add in some other forms of link building and most like post once per week. I will outsource the articles.

    @Grimace,

    Exactly…I will find a word to use as anchor text in post 1C and link it to post 1B…I will find a word to use as anchor text in post 1B and link it to 1A.

    @deek67,

    The blog 2 and 3 doesn’t have to have your name tied to it, so recommend good affiliate programs (more so than on your main site). You can sell a little harder on these sites. You can get various hosting packages at SEOhosting.com for $35 per month.

    @Mark,

    Usually I get my best ideas when doing cardio. My mind wanders off and then new ideas come to me. I think this structure will work well. The good thing is that you are building a small little network that you own.

    @PODER501000,

    As long as you blog wasn’t spammy and filled with a ton of dupe content, you will be fine.

    @Hyo,

    It will be 60 unique articles. I want all three blogs to have 100% unique content.

    @ Mark,

    I’m just putting one anchor text link from post 1C to 1B and 1B to 1A.

    Hope that helps :)

    -Rusty

  • PODER501000:

    Thanks rusty! I wasn’t spammy I think! The only thing I haven’t used is the best spinner.

    I usually make an article and then post the same on 1-waylinks, Should I spin the article before I post it on 1waylinks?

    I will def get the best spinner today as writing new articles every day from scratch is very time consuming.

    Guys What do you still think about the wp syndicator? is it worth it?

    It currently has only 13 blogs available and I only managed to have 8 working and support is working on fixing the rest.

    Wp syndicator support asked for my password to fix the problem and I gave it to then, that makes me a little uncomfortable though.

    Sorry my post became a little longer than I thought :)

  • Tim D:

    Hey guys,

    Anyone have any recommendations for rewrites? I used to use Human Rewriter but they have gone out of business. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • This is a very helpful post. I found one or two things which are very new for me. It triggers a new flash of a brainstorm. Thank you

  • I was able to find a company that hosts several class c ips for cheap. I am not sure about the service but am willing to give them a try since I a bit over extended with my fitness business.

    http://www.cclassiphosting.com/

  • PODER501000:

    OK finally my blog re-appeared on Google on 5th position!

    What I did? I took OFF wp syndicator and I was able to restore some of the blogs from blogger that I had erased.

    I noticed my Iwaylink account was not working due to a password change I did to my blog, So I fixed that and it started building links right away.

    I don’t know if that had something to do with it, but it has worked.

    I figure I post this just in case somebody goes through this in future.

  • Hey Rusty,

    one more quick question, on the 60 unique articles, will you also have 60 unique titles or just one same title per 20 like articles. And also for the spun, 1waylink article, will that title also be unique?

    thanks,
    hyo

  • Hi Rusty,

    I have a question- when you talk about 500 visits a day, are you referring to visitors or pageviews? I’ve been on 1WL for about 3 weeks now and I am seeing VERY slow traffic increases. One day I did spike to almost 300 visitors, then the next 5 days plummeted to around 100-130 per day.

    Thanks!

    Robin

  • Jimmy Smith:

    Robin,
    When I first stated with 1WL I was freaking out. My site got about 2,500 page loads per day and I had various articles in the top 5 of google for competitive keywords. After about 1 week of using 1WL I dipped to 500 visits. After 1-2 weeks I was back up and am slowly reaching 2,000 uniques.

NEW Affiliate Banners!
I hired out a couple different graphic designers to create a bunch of new affiliate banners.

Here is a preview of one I just had designed. I had this made in a bunch of different sizes...

I'm buying high-end stock images with really attractive men and women. They will all be stylish.

And Yavor of "Relative Strength Advantage" created a new men's banner that looks cool and has the same feel as the woman's banner above. Here it is.
